Toyota Always Looking Forward

Toyota was founded by Sakichi Toyoda, an inventor. He established an automobile division within his textile loom maker company, Toyoda Automatic Loom Works in 1933. The first vehicle produced was the Model G1 truck in 1935 and it was in this same year that the first Toyota dealership was established. The following year production of their first car, the Model AA began.

Toyota Exports to U.S.

In 1957, the Crown model was the first passenger car made in Japan to be exported to the United States. They began opening more vehicle plants including one in Brazil and Thailand. By 1972 production had reached 10 millions vehicles between the plants. In 1986 vehicle production began in the United States and by 1989 Toyota launched it's highly successful luxury line know as Lexus. The first cars offered in the Lexus line were the LS 400 and the ES250 with both vehicles going on sale in September.

Hybrid Cars and New Innovations

In 2000 the first Toyota hybrid vehicle was sold in the United States and by 2002 Toyota announces it's Scion line with the first concept cars being released. In 2006 Toyota introduced it's very first hybrid SUV, The Highlander Hybrid. It was in 2007 that Toyota introduced the Tundra. The Tundra is their full size pickup born and bred in the United States and proved widely popular among consumers.

"Moving Forward"

Toyota is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. Their lineup includes Cars, Minivans, SUVs and Crossovers along with Trucks. Toyota was the first carmaker to use fully robotized car factories but also the first one to abandon the no-people idea. They have continued to be highly successful with their Toyota, Lexus and Scion lines as well as many other subsidiaries.
